VIEW EVENTSBuvuma Island's Lake Victoria & Environment Community Protection Association (BULVECPA) was transformed into Buvuma Island's Community Empowerment association (BICEA) on the th 24 October, 2019 to broaden further the objectives and t values of BULVECPA Members sitting at the annual general meeting resolved to transform the NGOs name and Logo by coming up with a name that embraces all the factors that are environmentally, socially and economically viable to the day to day community livelihood. The idea of forming BULVECPA was initiated in 2003 by Mr Katamba Philly, members were mobilized and the idea was conceived resulting into the formation of BULVECPA in the year 2005. BICEA/BULVECPA was registered under the non-government organization statute and regulation of 1990 with the goal of uplifting the living standards of people in Buvuma District, through education, sensitization, environmental conservation, mobilization and support education of all school going children and health. Currently BICEA operates in Buvuma District which is comprised of four sub Counties namely Bugaya, Bwema, Nairambi and Busamuzi. The area's population is approximately 100,000 but is expected to double due to the big influx of migrants in search of casual jobs.
